FAQ

1. What type of equipment do you use?

For stills photography we use Canon digital SLR cameras.

For videography we use Canon video cameras which include 3 Canon XM2 and a Canon XL1s. For clarity of sound we use a wireless microphone and an Roland ERIDOL R09.

2. Can we borrow a video camera to capture any events before the wedding day?

Yes! A good quality video camera will be available to you to capture any moments during the week leading up to the wedding. The service is free of charge and all we ask is that you treat the camera with the same care and attention that we shall take in videoing your wedding. Incidentally, the loan of the camera would be an ideal opportunity for you to capture a special greeting parents or family to add to their particular copy of the DVD.

3. Sometimes photographers and videographers charge extra for capturing speeches and evening receptions. Do you?

No! As far as we are concerned, you have commissioned us to capture your wedding - and that means everything from the time it all starts at the bridal preparations on the day of the wedding until some of he disco after the first dance in the evening. We do not have such gimmicks as ‘Bronze’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Platinum’ packages. We only cover one wedding per day and give it our complete attention at the price shown. There are no ‘hidden’ or unexpected extras.

4. How long will we wait for the photographs/video?

The proof album of approx 100 photos and a CD containing all photographs taken (in proof quality) will be with you within days of the wedding. The editing of many hours of video will take rather longer but is normally with the couple in the initial draft within four weeks.

The time until final completion then depends upon how quickly you get your choice and suggestions back to us. Once we have discussed your photo/video requirements with you, the final package will be with you within about two weeks.

5. Will the video have titles?

Yes. DVDs are very versatile (that’s the V in DVD!). Not only will you have a title to your requirements but also chapters so that you can go immediately to a part of the day without having to fast forward or rewind. At the end of the DVD will be a rolling list, rather like the list of actors at the end of a film, giving the names of all who attended the wedding. Some couples ask if we would add at the beginning some photos of the two of them growing up. Both the introductory sequence (such as the photos) and the list of family and friends who shred your special day will be added at no extra cost.

6. How long will the video be?

There is no set time because all weddings are different and couples have their own requirements. Religious ceremonies, such as in a church, tend to be much longer than civil ceremonies, such as in a hotel or registry office.

On average, DVDs are about 95 minutes to 120 minutes, but ultimately, the finished product depends upon what the couple want.

7. You must shoot more video than you actually use in producing the completed DVD. Is it possible to have copies of the footage you don’t use in finished the DVD?

We take a lot more video than we use in the final product, just as we take many more photographs than we use in the album. You can have the raw footage (rushes) ‘as it was shot’ at no extra cost just as you can receive all the photographs in full resolution when your order is completed.

The rushes can be offered to you in one of two ways - either as a rendered DVD so you can view on a DVD player or as MPEG files which will enable you to have a go at your own editing to produce an ‘alternative’ DVD if you have the courage and time to do it!

The request for the raw footage must be made on completion of the order.

8. Do you take bookings for same sex civil partnerships?

Yes we do, under the same terms and conditions as weddings.

9. Are you willing to meet with us at the place where the ceremony is to take place before the wedding?

A wedding is a very special occasion and we want to make sure that it is captured perfectly. We arrange to meet the couple before the wedding. It is also our policy to attend any rehearsals.

If you have any other queries - just ask!
